@Enter Shikari It's tough to be sure. I support the Voice as something explicitly asked for by Indigenous people. I'm confident that the wording proposed to be added to our constitution acknowledges the historical reality of Australia as it is today. Every decision can have unintended consequences. We just have to be the version of ourselves we'd like to see, and encourage others to do the same.

By definition the "No" side needs to be arguing against a proposal and explaining the pitfalls so the people get both sides of an argument. There is a responsibility to do that so voters can make informed decisions. Calling it fear mongering is a misrepresentation.

That's the problem. When you follow the majority of no campaign arguments that's where they end. There have been very few arguments made against it that are not based in sterotypical racism. I will vote yes but I'm actively trying to engage with the no proponents on the basis of their ideas. So far their ideas have been very thin on argument, very thick on misinformation or outright lies.

You are right, there is a responsibility to do that. But that doesn't mean the no campaign isn't engaged in bad faith arguments, lies and misinformation.

Australians have shown they want equality for ALL Australians, not one set of privileges for on section of the community, and another set of conditions for the rest of Australians. Secondly, a further 'voice' will not do anything for that section of Australian aboriginals who are disadvantaged. $1 trillion spend, very little achieved. Time for results. If you tell people what they're voting on, you just increase the chances of them not wanting it. Better to be as vague as possible. With the republic referendum, there was overwhelming support for yes, but by adding in more detail, and making it clear that they planned to include things people didn't want, the government of the time was able to secure a no vote. Here, the government is hoping to secure a yes vote. So being as vague as possible is the way to go.

@Adam Louis The website says nothing about how the members of the voice will be chosen or which tribes/language groups/laws they will represent, and which will be excluded. Nor does it explain why one ethnic group in our society can have privileged access to the parliament and executive, but other ethnic groups cannot. Nor does it explain why the constitution needs to be permanently altered if this Voice is actually going to fix issues for aboriginal people. If they fix things, what will the Voice do then? I could go on...

People do not have to vote yes or no - they can vote informally if they are uncertain - the no campaign is pushing a no vote for those uncertain
